it is possible, most companies do not do those type of loans anymore. Wells Fargo does & they are the biggest & most reputable financial institution i know that does them, you may find some secondary lenders that will allow the loan, like reliable credit (rates start around 20%) or western sky financial (rates start around 120%, this is only legal because they are a Native American business on a reservation & thus not governed by most of US laws)

If she can’t pay the credit card debt just simply do not pay them, there is nothing the credit card companies can do about it, they cannot garnish disability or social security payment. After two months of missing payments she can negotiate a lower payment and lower interest rate through the credit card companies or have a “not for profit” credit counseling service do the negotiating for her, which would be better because then, instead of paying multiple credit card companies every month, she would only pay the credit counseling service one payment per month and they will disperse the correct payments to the different credit card companies.

Most are ripoffs. They require huge upfront fees of several thousand dollars and then leave you hanging. Also, most credit card companies won’t work with such companies, only with attorneys.

I would suggest that you hire an attorney who handles consumer credit issues. You can get a referral from your county bar association and you may be eligible for free legal help from your local legal aid office.

I’ve had a lot of experience, and the truth is, no, none of them work any better than you just doing the same thing yourself. If the accounts are with the original lenders, just make the minimum payments on all but one, and put every dime you can spare each month toward that one. Some liketo go smallest to largest so you get that feeling of accomplishment early by knocking out the little ones fast, others prefer the more “financially correct” method of paying off the highest interest rate first. You do what works best for you, just make paying off the debt a priority in your life and it will get done.

If you have debts that have gone to collection, then pay the minimum payments on the ones that haven’t and save up money until you have enough to pay off the ones in collection. When they call you and want money offer them what you have saved as settlement. If they accept get it in writing before you send them anything and don’t give them access to your bank account. Don’t make partial payments to the collectors, they will bleed you dry this way.

Last piece ofadvice, if you have some debts that have been charged off but nobody is contacting you about them, let them go until you clean up the ones that you are being contacted about. If they’ve already charged off they can’t hurt your credit any more, so just let sleeping dogs lie until you get the more current stuff cleaned up.

most debt relief companies are worthless… cccs is best if you must use one, but using one, you will be treated as if you filed a chapter 13 bankruptcy as far as your credit report goes.

Yes, it will impact on your credit if you did indeed close your accounts. Most likely, these accounts were your oldest credit accounts, and that is part of your score. Also, your available credit is part of your score. Not having any available credit is going to take your score down also. All you will have is this installment loan.

Actually, this might have hurt your credit rating. If you had established a long history of paying on time with those cards, then you’ve just removed these from your credit history by closing the account
It would have been wiser to have contacted the card companies and requested credit limit reductions to $ 500 rather than closing the accounts.

Yes, for me, getting my debt consolidated did help reduce my interest and gave me a plan to pay it off quicker. I worked with a financial advisor to make my plan to repay it.

Michael W. Newman has written a book for our times, never more relevant than today. The book is loaded with easy to understand basic information explaining not only how you can fall into debt and credit quicksand and how to get out of it, but how they work. There's plenty of insight into what's going on at the other end of the phone when you receive that dreaded "We will ruin your credit" call.

There are form letters examples of which are in the chapters and in the appendix. You can adapt them to keep creditors at bay until you can work out your strategy to grab that rope and pull yourself out of the financial muck you stepped into. There are forms to correct information in your credit report, communicate bankruptcy, voiding contracts, etc. Everything you need.

This is a good book to study and a good reference to have handy BEFORE you get into financial hell. I found only one piece of advise I would not recommend, but it's minor, a matter of personal choice, and isn't financially important.

The book i easy to read. Don't look for unnecessary jokes and filler. This book gets to the point fast and stays there. I would have liked to have this information some years ago when I was in credit card hell--11 credit cards with $65,000 of debt. I was just keeping my head above water and managed to pay it all off in full. It would have been so much easier had I the fortune to get my hands on Michael's book.

Drawn up in very big type and laid down, double-spaced, just so you don't mix it up, the book What You Can Do To CONQUER Your Credit and Debt Problems is as much a personal atonement as it is a guide for you, the debt-saddled consumer. Mr. Newman offers his own "golden survival tips;" as well as a host of other useful information for the consumer who can't seem to get out of debt.

Recognition is one of the biggest hindrances to getting to the root of the problem and this is another thing that Mr. Newman addresses right from the get-go. If people can't admit that there is something wrong then there is no way to fix the problem. Also Mr. Newman sets about setting things up in a realistic and logical manner. He has a section on setting up a plan of action, creating attainable goals, following your plan into attack and meeting those goals and moving on.

And that's just in the first chapter! He goes on to talk about things every consumer needs to know about creditors and bill collectors including the two types of creditors and the three types of bill collectors, ways to handle calls you may be getting from them, things you should and should not say to them when dealing with them, and stopping their calls altogether.

Another thing Mr. Newman stresses is the fact that people are able to turn the tables on their bill collectors; just because you are the one being pursued doesn't mean that you don't have a way to make the bill collectors have to do their own due diligence. Moreover there are way to protect your assets from creditors and ways to clear debts without filing bankruptcy.

If it does ultimately turn to that, there are things you should know about bankruptcy and Mr. Newman delves into these facts as well. Answering the questions should I declare bankruptcy, when should I declare bankruptcy, what is the difference between chapter 7 and chapter 13, as well as your attorney's duties when filing these cases.

While these may seem like things which are talked about ad nausea in the news and in other publications, Michael Newman breaks it down for you in way that is easy to understand and quick to follow on the fly. While you want to be able to do so, it may be tougher than you think alone; for this reason What You Can Do To CONQUER Your Credit and Debt Problems is essential reading for anyone plagued by the system."

It is a quick read and very valuable information because right now in this economy people need to think differently and add
passive streams of income to what they are already doing or just start an income to survive!

I work with offline clients with small businesses and one of the things I always recommend is that they add something
